Peker, Riemer et al. UniversitÀt zu Köln identify a two-step mitochondrial import pathway allowing for dual protein localization to matrix and IMS. Weak targeting signals allow proteins to acquire stabilizing disulfide bonds in the IMS en route to the matrix. bit.ly/3MaULMg

âšExcited to share our new paper in Cell Reports! âšWe show how cells rely on self-made serine to protect themselves under mitochondrial stress. Huge thanks to my mentors JacksonLab and Anu Suomalainen Wartiovaara đ cell.com/cell-reports/fâŠ

Local de novo synthesis of serine delays mitochondrial muscle disease progression. Tour de force work of Christopher Jackson and âŠAnastasiia Marmylevaâ© Anastasiia Marmyleva. Congrats Anastasiia especially for your first 1st author paper! âŠAnu Suomalainen-Wartiovaara Labâ© cell.com/cell-reports/fâŠ
