I don't think SARS-CoV-2 manipulates host behaviour to make them ignore risk and behave selfishly and thus increase transmission to new hosts, but I'm also not sure how things would be any different than they are now if that were the case.

Grocery shopping this weekend will cause far more than 10 Americans to die from Covid (and 10x that many will suffer other serious oucomes). (I realize such things are not totally comparable and have different implications. But they are not totally incomparable either)
