A1: Communication is vital. It should have already been occurring before the conference. Allow the student to start things off by showing off their work. #ShiftThis

A2: Allow students to participate and share anything they want. Maybe let them show off the use of technology happening in the classroom. #ShiftThis

A3: Take a deep breath! Really listen to the parents and address any concerns. #ShiftThis

A4: Meaningful connections start before parent conferencing. Communicate often and keep parents informed. Especially when the communication is positive. This makes the parent conferences that much more meaningful. #ShiftThis

A5: It can be so valuable for students to lead the conference. Let them show off their work and talk about their learning in class. They should also learn to explain their struggles. This can assist the teacher as well as parents! #ShiftThis

A6: Over the years I have learned the value of just listening to parents. Something I wish I had been better at early in my career. #ShiftThis
