Article processing charges prevent progress. If 26 year old Einstein had to pay an APC, it would have cost him 20-40k from his 50-70k (adjusted) salary. It would have bankrupt him to publish his 4 miracle year papers. How many modern Einsteins have been filtered out by APCs?

A very exciting new subspecialty is emerging. Brain stimulation is proving efficacious across multiple specialties and subspecialties. This will allow us to rebase that skillset into particular providers specializing in DBS, TMS, tDCS, and more.
