This Spotted Marsh Frog (Limnodynastes tasmaniensis) looks as happy as anyone that the rain has finally come to the New England Tablelands.

Congratulations @gk_senevirathne ... critically important knowledge to understand tail-loss in frogs, enabling them to jump.. I bet that this is going to be a classic paper..

A green tree frog was observed eating a baby coastal taipan! The frog was bitten multiple times but was still alive and croaking this morning. 🐸 📸: Townsville - Snake Take Away and Chapel Pest Control facebook.com/59944789668/po…

UGH! Native #frogs often get confused with the introduced Cane Toad (Rhinella marina) & killed. This is not a Cane Toad, it's a Peron's Tree Frog (Litoria peronii). #WildOz Report sightings, don't kill, & learn how to identify Cane #Toads here: australianmuseum.net.au/blog/amri-news…

These are *NOT* Cane Toads (Rhinella marina), they are native Australian #frogs sometimes mistaken for Cane Toads. Not all Aussie frogs are smooth and green, some can look superficially similar to toads. australianmuseum.net.au/blog/amri-news…

Amazing new research led by @britt__mitchell on the impact of urbanisation on the calls of a widespread tree frog. The national citizen science project @FrogID is already helping understand our unique frog species! Thank you all! Check out our latest paper out now in #EnvironmentalPollution! We found that elevated nitrate levels pose negative effects on 🐟🦞🐸, and exposure to additional stressors tend to enhance these effects. w/Franklin EcoLab Rebecca Cramp authors.elsevier.com/a/1aZGvzLNSR-38

I have found possibly the smallest Graceful Tree Frog I have ever seen, with my pinky nail for scale, after a stroll in my local wetlands. How cute 😍!

I like spiders.... until they touch me 😂... So sitting under this big girl was concerning but worth it to get a look at their face. Check out my Instagram (calsphotography12) for more pictures and info on pretty much anything I can get a picture of!

Today's amazing #amphibian is the Rockhole #Frog (Litoria meiriana). This tiny species from northern #Australia can actually hop on water! They're so fast I needed to slow the video down! #WildOz

Male #frogs of many species fight over territory. These Common Eastern Froglets (Crinia signifera) in suburban Sydney have a pretty impressive #wrestling match over the best spot to call. Sound on! #WildOz

We have a freaky #FrogFriday for you all this week! This Green Tree Frog recently 'swallowed' quite the meal in Sharon’s backyard... Frogs are generalist carnivores, and will try to eat anything that will fit in their mouth, like this unlucky Swallow!

Hammerheads are interesting because it appears that species with shorter cephalofoil lobes are more derived than those with long cephalofoil lobes. The specialized head may have appeared abruptly & was then modified more gradually by evolution. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

How does sloughing, climate change and #chytrid contribute to global amphibian declines? Craig talks about the trade-offs of skin shedding, impact of UV and temp on the physiology of infected frog skin, as well as constipated frogs 🐸
