Times are bleak. Truly searching for something good around the corner to look forward to and came up with baseball coming back this month with spring training. I’m running with that. 19 days until the Yankees play.

A Yankees pitcher has the same name as one of my students but off by one letter. I showed him. We printed the player’s team photo and my students photo, and attached his face to the team picture- we labeled it “evil twin”. This is the energy I bring into the classroom.

I find it an oddly touching sentiment when you tell students that you won’t be at school and they get sad to hear the news. Like… it’s just cute that they will miss you.

I saw an American on TikTok preparing for St. Patrick’s day, but they used the audio of bagpipes playing “Scotland the Brave”. I would like to say I’m upset, but I haven’t seen the annual green beers yet. I’m prepared for the nonsense.

Me: I think change is needed in education. Improvements are needed. Someone with no background in education proposing a radical reform and change: *speaking* Me: Heinous. Not like that.

When Taylor wrote the fate of Ophelia and had the song’s analogy rely heavily on a man saving her from that same metaphorical fate, I audibly gasped. Did you read the play, boo? Did you understand it? I just want to talk.

If you are teaching Shakespeare and genuinely this is your best attempt at getting kids to engage with the play with writing (by using chat gpt based prompts), you deserve to sit through EVERY lame PD. Lowkey- pull their certificate.
