Maybe. I'm not sure what you're referring to. But..\.Black people *are* bird watchers too. As are Latino, Asian & Indigenous people. In fact, all those American birds that White explorers "discovered" already had names that tribes gave them. The same is true on every continent.

I’m breaking my long silence on this platform to announce that I accepted a buyout and resigned from the The Washington Post, ending a great 24-year run. My editors were wonderful. There was no pressure. It was purely my decision. The future looks amazing. ✌🏾

I did not feel the weight of my own departure as much as the loss of these two amazing researchers. Over the years The Washington Post lost Julie Tate, Lucy Shackelford and others. Alice and Magda are all that’s left from the time I arrived. How could this happen?
