Overwhelming manic urgency is the energy devoted to making AI programming a closed loop. If you’re not in it, it’s hard to describe. Every fiber of your being is aligned to close it, like some Marvel guy trying smush something in his hands, the world exploding around him.

I’ve mentioned before that humans will be shepherding flocks of AIs as a next step. Kind of like a manager or a visionary founder, but way more like a shepherd. For programmers, that image is simple. Except I’m not sure there’s quite that much work in the backlog.

A company wouldn’t be able to transform into the number of startups that they have programmers. Mainly because they lose all identity as a company. Internal products kind of work until they solve the actual pain points. The overcapacity AI programmer problem is real.

And say that the programmer with his AI flock is working at the level of a product/startup. And AI programming is closed loop. Wouldn’t a company choose a project manager instead? So a programmer is needed (if needed) *even less*, only huge designs or deep debugs.

With AI programming being closed loop, software problems are trivialized and speedily resolved with little human intervention. And the overwhelming manic urgency and pressure moves to an explosion in the physical world. With software solved, hardware curiously is what remains.

Hardware will be the only gating factor when software is solved. The limiting factor becomes 1) understanding of hardware and its integration with software and 2) manufacturing. Entrepreneurship shifts to the real world, MVPs being guys who can hardware and software.

Do you like your job? Is AI currently optimizing it? If it is, the next step is AI closing the loop. That is one level of business opportunity Then your job mostly ceases to exist. What valuable job can you do then?
