End of the first: JMU hasn’t skipped a beat, opening up a 22-8 lead. Kent State HC Todd Starkey already made his mark, getting ejected just two minutes into the ballgame. JMU’s Peyton McDaniel already up to 13 points, Dukes defense already racking up five steals. Not bad.

FINAL: JMU men's basketball moves to 2-1 on the early year with a 84-70 win over Coppin State. Dukes found their rhythm from beyond the arch, shooting 14-35 (40%). Cliff Davis leading the way for JMU, finishing with a team-high 16 points.

Bridgewater football's season is over. An postgame altercation between Averett-Guilford this past weekend resulted in those two programs discontinuing the season. Bridgewater was scheduled to play Guilford.
