We’re looking for surveyors to cover gulls in western Scotland starting in January 2025. Please email Ian at [email protected] for more information. We’re looking for people with good, bird ID skills. Self-employed fieldworkers or ecological consultants would be ideal.

1/ The Wild Bird Indicators, using BTO data, have been updated today. These are part of the government’s suite of biodiversity indicators, and report on how the UK’s bird populations have fared over many decades. It’s not good news. ⬇️

A high proportion of the Upland Rovers survey squares are in Scotland and some involve some intrepid trips into remote areas. Huge thanks to everyone who has helped us out in the last few years!
