Congrats on a great career coach! Dave DeGregorio was the first guy to introduce me to the value of the 3 ball. In like 2007 he was preaching 33% from 3 = 50% from 2. Way ahead of his time/innovator/ a great coach and community member. Ran the best camps.

SMU’s Matt Cross will join the Dallas Mavericks for NBA Summer League, I’m told. The 6’7” forward averaged 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 38.2% from three for the 24-win Mustangs this season. 1st Team All-A10 selection for UMass the season prior.

We are on the rise! UMass finished ranked 5th among Non-Power Four FBS Schools trailing only New Mexico (49), UConn (63), Oregon State (75) & South Florida (78). Best finish in 25 years for UMass, dating back to a 51st-place ranking in the final 1998–99 standings.

These rankings speak for themselves—UMass Amherst is making its mark. From being named the #1 Food Science program in the nation to ranking among the top public universities and best value colleges, there's so much to be proud of as part of the UMass community. 🌟

Cheick Sylla has committed to UMass. 6-10 center averaged 24 PPG and 14 RPG for Wolverine Basketball in Class AAA last season. Voted as one of the best big men in NEPSAC in our coaches survey. Has great touch and footwork, protects the rim, explosive. Terrific get for the Minutemen.

“He seems to be the most dominant big man in the NEPSAC.” “He has the engine, toughness, and physicality that sets him apart.” “He was a physical force in every game I saw, imposed his will.” A sampling of what coaches said about Sylla in our survey: basketballjournal.com/2025/08/06/who…

Great get for Frank Martin, Brian Steele & co. Southpaw big man with a very polished post game, and soft touch. Plays with force. Can compete for minutes right away next year.
