Term finished with a celebration of the diversity in our school community. Enjoying stories and poems from the cultures reflected in our midst, sporting traditional dress and feasting on dishes from around the globe. We are lucky to have such a cosmopolitan feel to our school.

With only two weeks physically in school, Miss Tritton and Years 3 and 4 pulled out all the stops to give fantastic recitals of Greek Myths and stories and poems from India. Performing with aplomb their shows were packed with humour, drama and fun with umbrellas!

Music was alive and well in Broomfield even while instrumental lessons were conducted over Zoom! Mrs Bou was thrilled at the readiness of our players to perform in the revised version of our Spring Instrumental Concerts. Great work from the maestros of tomorrow!

How to be a bee? In a visit to the wonderful Hive at Kew Gardens, Kindergarten experienced what it might be like to be a bee confined in a hive. Afterwards they busily buzzed around on a minibeast hunt in glorious sunshine.

Our Computing Captains were delighted to welcome Isaac Dossa, Dukes Finance Director, to formally open our fabulous IT Lab. They were so happy that this great facility was achieved on their watch, and grateful to Mr Anstey and IT Support Company, ILUX, for realising this dream.

Year 4 have been exploring ways in which colour can be used to express and/or enhance our mood in their History of Art activity. They were inspired to produce these massive and beautiful images in soft pastels, having studied the work of American abstract painter, Mark Rothko.

In workshops on 'Unlocking the Universe', Lucy Hawking got children thinking about different ways we can travel across the universe. Teachers and pupils alike were enthralled by how she bought science to life and outer space closer to home.  Thank you for a fabulous Science Day.

Broomfield thanks Pines and Needles, based at Pools on the Park, for their generous donation of a Christmas tree. The children have had the best fun creating a massive variety of decorations to bring a home crafted feel to our festive fun! Pines and Needles 🌲

Congratulations to Broomfield old girl, Tegan, who won four tickets to see Luzia, Cirque du Soleil in our PTA Christmas Raffle. She went yesterday and had an amazing night out. Thank you to Dukes Education for donating the prize.

A jolly time was had on Shrove Tuesday as our children took on some serious multi-tasking: running while flipping a pancake, turning tightly round a halfway marker and neatly handing over their frying pan to the next runner! A lot of cheering and laughter accompanied the fun.

Keeping fit, safe and happy! This week Year 6 were out and about taking their cycling proficiency. We all know that exercise, time outdoors and being with friends keeps us grounded, so doing this in Mental Health week was perfect timing.

Our scooter patrol is busy during Walk to School Week. Thanks to all our families who regularly walk, scoot and cycle to school. You make a great contribution to improving air quality and road safety around Broomfield, as well as keeping fit and healthy.

Mrs Byers welcomed the winners of her Headteacher's Award to tea in her office to thank them for being such great ambassadors for Broomfield. It is given to those children who best represent our school values, who are kind, polite, apply themselves and try their hardest.
