#Bills S Damar Hamlin’s 4-year, $3.64M contract contains a standard split to pay him at a lower rate if he lands on Injured Reserve. This week, he was placed on IR. However, sources say Buffalo has worked out an agreement with the NFL and NFLPA to pay him in full.

Justin Verlander (right teres major strain) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session tomorrow, followed by live BP and a rehab start in the ensuing days. Reading between the lines, that schedule could have Verlander ready to make his Mets debut by the end of next week.

Edwin Díaz just walked up the dugout steps, onto and off the field without crutches to accept his National League Reliever of the Year Award. A nice moment for Díaz, who needed support the last time he acknowledged the Citi Field crowd a month ago.

The lowest expected batting average (xBA) leaderboard for pitchers who have faced at least 50 batters is interesting: 1. Alexis Díaz, CIN: .119 2. Josh Hader, SD: .121 3. Ryan Helsley, STL: .155 4. David Bednar, PIT: .156 5. Adam Ottavino, NYM: .163 6. David Robertson, NYM: .168

Just another garden-variety nightmare for the Mets in Atlanta. Until they actually go down there and take care of business, this team is going to have a tough time winning back the trust of an unhappy fan base.

I get that Mets' fans were down on Scherzer, and understandably so. Too many clunkers in big spots, especially last October. But the guy did make a huge impact last year with his work ethic, intensity, etc. I don't think anybody was more respected by teammates in that clubhouse.

Before today's game, Brandon Nimmo wrote this message on a bag of batting gloves for slumping teammate Jeff McNeil, and signed it. McNeil responded with his first homer.
