I really enjoyed George Hart's talk today at the Bridges Math Art conference. He introduced us to the artist Hans Hinterreiter. archive.bridgesmathart.org/2024/bridges20…

The first plenary talk at Bridges Math Art was excellent: Chris Bathgate, a machinist who makes amazing art. Much of his talk was about designing ways to create metalworking machines that would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. chrisbathgate.com

The second plenary was also excellent (although I didn't take any photos): Jesse Louis-Rosenberg (Jesse Louis-Rosenberg) from the extremely creative Nervous System n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com.

As the talks of the 2024 Bridges Math Art conference winds down, I want to share a gentle reminder of a call for mathematical art submissions ending this coming Saturday. Thanks for all the inquiries this week. It's so exciting! #mathart

The first keynote at the Bridges Math Art conference today is given by Richard Hammack, who speaks about "Hypercube Models via Genus Embeddings." Paper: archive.bridgesmathart.org/2024/bridges20…. Starting from perspective representation of cubes in different dimensions, we get to pop-up book #art.

The capstone talk at this year's Bridges Math Art conference is given by Margaret Kepner, telling us to "Only Connect." Paper: archive.bridgesmathart.org/2024/bridges20…. She presents some of her work on #quilting and how these works are informed by #math, which gives beautiful #quilt pieces.

Here’s my Bridges Math Art piece “Space-Filling Circles” from a couple of years ago when I shipped it to Finland and it sat three miles away from the exhibit and then found its way back to California! gallery.bridgesmathart.org/exhibitions/20…

This afternoon at the Bridges Math Art conference, we had the #ShortFilm festival with 14 movies from 12 great #MathArt filmmakers including an awesome Q&A. You can watch accepted submissions for free online at gallery.bridgesmathart.org/exhibitions/20…. Let us know: What is your favorite movie?🎥

Another activity this afternoon at the Bridges Math Art conference: #family day. Hosted by the Science Museum of Virginia visitors can build card sculptures, wear tetrahedron-balloon hats, create their own #math balls to play with, or build an emerging artwork; among other things.

Last activity at the Bridges Math Art conference for today: #Math #Theater. The play is "Lovesong of the Electric Bear" by Snoo Wilson, a piece about the tragic life and death of Alan M. Turing. Kudos to the🧸, who had to deliver the most amount of lines while in a hot costume.

I had an amazing time at Family Day yesterday at Bridges Math Art. Chaim Goodman-Strauss, Scott Vorthmann, and I ran a hat tile build. We found out when we got there that we were not allowed to use the floor, but we improvised and were able to make a pretty big tiling anyway.
