People need to stop using the term “rural America” as a euphemism for racist white people. In the process of not wanting to call racists what they are, we continue to erase Black rural southerners by defining rurality, particularly southern rurality, by whiteness.

Make no mistake: This is the President of the United States threatening to kill Americans. It will only get worse, and he will only drift further toward authoritarian white nationalism as the election nears. He sees it as his path to “victory.” Don’t let him be right.

I want to make some things plain. Police violence has historically been the source of the violent rebellions of Black people and their allies. Police violence begets violent resistance. If you want to end the violent resistance, then end the police violence. 1/5

“Thug” is a racist word in this context. Another way of calling demonstrators the N-word. “Riot” is a racist word in this context. Smears demonstrators as wild and ignores the protest nature of their violence. “The violence is senseless” is a racist phrase. #BlackLivesMatter

For those of you who think these protests are due only to #GeorgeFloyd, you still don’t get it. Systemic racism, legal oppression, no value placed on black lives, lack of healthcare, lack of job and educational opportunities, etc. Should I go on? #BlackLivesMatter

It’s pathetic if it takes the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg for progressives to understand the judicial consequences of elections the way conservatives do. But I’ll take it. We failed her heroic legacy in 2016. We cannot afford to do it again. Vote.

I want everybody to remember that the Supreme Court has said the government doesn't have the authority to make people wear a mask when it later says it *does* have the authority to force women to give birth against their will.

Frog knocked at Toad’s door. “Toad, wake up, he cried. “Come out and see how wonderful the winter is!” “I will not,” said Toad. “I am in my warm bed.”

Blackburn, who literally think that women should be turned into incubators from the moment of conception, thinks that respecting trans rights turns women into "second class citizens." You can't make this level of hypocrisy up.

Elie Mystal (@elienyc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

In case you are wondering, the Constitution does not define "women" but does say that people need "equal protection" of laws so Blackburn's question should have been "Are trans people, people" because IF YES then the Constitution is pretty clear.
