The Office of Congressional Ethics found what DOGE so far has not: Actual potential illegality in federal contracts. GOP Rep. Cory Mills scored $1 million across nearly 100 federal contracts since 2023 for "munitions and weapons, distributed to prisons across the country"

Musk posted shortly after midnight that he'd be visiting Wisconsin and giving away $1M to people who came to his event & had voted in the state's high-profile Supreme Court race. politico.com/news/2025/03/2… The problem? That would probably be illegal, and his post is now gone.

NEW — Musk walks back his earlier terms of his $1 million gifts after building legal scrutiny. Musk now says the $1 million checks will go to signers of the petition, not to those who have already voted.

I spent last weekend reporting on the ground in Wisconsin, where the election really could come down to how voters feel about Elon Musk — and Dem anger/frustration was palpable 🧵

I wrote a piece about tomorrow's crucial #Wisconsin Supreme Court election for The New Yorker. Deepest thanks to all the people who shared their insights with me and to the phenomenal editorial staff at the magazine. newyorker.com/news/the-lede/…

To be fair, America PAC can’t run the $1M giveaway as a lottery without bumping up against strict state lottery laws. Musk may have given the impression that $1M recipients are chosen at random, but the PAC is instead hand-selecting recipients to serve as PAC “spokespersons.”
