Gr 4 watched The Secret Garden (2020) after studying the book & were unimpressed: S: Why is there a fire at the end? Me: When people make films out of books, they change things. Do you think they made a good decision? S: I think the story is interesting enough without the fire.

Hot workload-reducing tip for schools: Use Wonde. When you update class lists, Wonde automatically updates class lists across all connected apps. We’ve connected our library system, our assessment data platform, Times Tables Rock Stars and NumBots. Big efficiency win.

Today I facilitated a full-day workshop with the excellent teachers of Southmoor Primary School. Absolutely stoked to see my booklets out in the wild. If you’re looking for support in implementing explicit teaching in Maths, get in contact: bradnguyen.com

Walked through classrooms this week and took these photos of students really engaged in learning about 3D objects with concrete materials and digital technology. What is less obvious is that these are photos of teachers using a textbook and explicit instruction.

A great post on improving participation in classrooms. Engineering high engagement is challenging but achievable, and there is great advice here for teachers and leaders.

Latest NAPLAN results: Our school is FIRST again for % of Ss achieving HIGH GROWTH from Y3 to Y5 when compared with similar schools. (Another school is close behind. Who are they?) On the left is the results from this year. On the right is the data from the last 3 years.

I spent a great day facilitating PL with the dedicated staff of the Australian International Academy of Education, Coburg. North side represent! We learned about the instructional hierarchy, fluency routines & retrieval practice techniques. The day ended with Staff Masterchef.
