RT on outdoor exercise structure (pictured) improves strength and physical function in older adults Brianna Leadbetter, MScKin, CEP Martin Sénéchal, PhD Ken Seaman, Danielle Bouchard UNB Many potential benefits for people willing to use this exercise medium! journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/23…
a few thoughts Gregory Miller, Ph.D. This is a good study showing that in young adults (32 yr old), meal distribution is less important than total daily protein intake (90g/d). Meal distribution has ONLY been shown to be important in adults >50 yrs. Other points below:
"measures of muscle quality demonstrate divergent recovery rates following immobilization, with muscle mass lagging behind improvements in strength" Ryan Girts @kyliekharmon Jonathan Beausejour Matt Stock, PhD et al. cdnsciencepub.com/doi/10.1139/ap…
RT with a close proximity-to-failure can be sufficient to promote similar hypertrophy as reaching momentary muscular failure Martin Refalo Eric Helms, Zac Robinson D. Lee Hamilton Jackson Fyfe, PhD Deakin_ExSc tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
Blood flow restriction during bed rest does not modulate daily muscle protein synthesis rates and does not preserve muscle mass or strength Cas Fuchs Wesley Hermans Jean Nyakayiru Michelle Weijzen Tim Snijders, Lex Verdijk, Luc van Loon physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/JP…

SRMA: No effect of protein/AA provision in preventing disuse-induced muscle atrophy; need more high-quality trials 👏 Hughes, Francis, Rooney @R_D_Pollock Oliver Witard physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/EP…
Honoured to work with and learn from this dream team. Thank you for the recognition AJP-Cell Physiology

The Muscle, Aging, (In)activity, and Nutrition (MAIN) Lab at University of British Columbia - take note and spread the word, everyone! 👏👏 James McKendry, Ph.D.
There aren't many pediatric exercise articles that are actually written for pediatric populations. That's why we wrote our newest article in Frontiers for Young Minds : "Get Lifting - Strength Training for Children" kids.frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

PhD complete! Tremendously thankful for many but especially Stuart Phillips (he/him) - he's simply the best! linkedin.com/posts/brad-cur…
