Our once upon a story time session this week was an “animal” theme. Together we enjoyed a story, some songs and the children explored a farm sensory tray #OUAST23 🐄🐑🐖

This week we had a winter theme for Once Upon A Story Time! ❄️ Next week will be our last week until the new year and we will be having a Christmas theme! We hope to have a little visitor too! 🤞🏼🎅🏼 #OUAST23

Today some of the children had explored some frozen dinosaur eggs! We worked as a team to think of ideas of how we could free the dinosaurs! After trying some different methods, H suggested “we get hot water” and found that this method worked the best and freed the dinosaurs!🦕🦖

This week we have been learning about volcanos after our interest in dinosaurs. We had used the iPad to research volcanos then created our own using paper mache and we made the volcano erupt! “A dormant volcano has some lava and might erupt, an extinct volcano has no lava” 🌋

Today we had made some scones and had them for snack! We were measuring out the ingredients and learning new techniques such as kneading and rubbing. 🧑🏻‍🍳

We thought we’d make the most of the sunny weather and some of us went for a trip to Zetland Park! ☀️

Today I was given an opportunity to go out of my comfort zone and present my literacy journey at Beancross over the past 5 years and our journey to achieving diamond award for ACI to Laurieston Nursery! I cannot thank the staff enough for being so welcoming and supportive!

Today we had our P1 Transition Teddy Bear’s Picnic. We all had lots of fun meeting our teachers and our P1 friends! 🧸🧺🥪🍭💜🌟#BPSPrimaryOneTransition

On Friday we had our last Bookbug session with the Pink and Purple group. Thank you to our families who came along to take part in this, we had lots of fun! #bookbug 🐻🌙📕🎶

Lots of fun for some of the purple and pink groups today at Zetland Park! We had lots of fun at the park, having a picnic and a game of football before we got caught in the rain! 🌧️

This week we have been exploring many numeracy concepts throughout the ELC. We have continued to bake, identify and create patterns and explore numbers and quantities.

We’ve also been developing our number recognition skills whilst out in the community. With our interest of animals we have been measuring them and identifying the different heights. #MathsWeekScot @mathsweekscot

To celebrate Early Years wellbeing week we’ve held the first ever Beancross BAFTA’s awards where all staff were recognised for their hard work, had a lovely breakfast together, treated ourselves to a Zetland pantry and had a Starbucks! 🏆🥰

It’s been a busy couple of weeks - we have been developing ‘our wee woodwork shed’ as we learn how we can be creative while being safe. 🪚 #SHANARRI Amazing to see our wee people create their designs via #digitallearning and markmaking then bringing them to real life experiences

This year for world book day we had went with the theme of “Read your way!”. Some of the children had came in dressed as their favourite character from a story or wearing PJ’s!
