The language used to describe the behaviour of complex dynamical systems is very powerful and has been used for many years to theorize about psychopathology. Here are some excerpts from Sabelli et al. (1990) describing a model of bipolar disorder doi.org/10.1080/003327… 1/n

How can we integrate empirical findings at the interindividual and intraindividual levels? In our new paper, we address this question by discussing the relationship between phenomena and theories at both levels.

Just in time for #aps24sf, the psychonetrics #Rstats package for (dynamic) SEM and network psychometrics has been updated to version 0.12 on CRAN! This is a massive update that should resolve many issues with the package (e.g., convergence issues and poor start values).

ChatGPT often adds stuff to its answers that I didn’t ask for. After many fruitless attempts, I finally found a solution to this. I order ChatGPT to repeat 50 times: “I, ChatGPT, will not add things to my answers that nobody asked for”. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I am very proud of this paper, which proposes a systematic method for testing whether theories putatively explain empirical phenomena. Congrats to the whole team, thanks to Noah van Dongen for pulling it over the finish line. psycnet.apa.org/fulltext/2025-…

This is rich - one of the primary reasons scientists don't have a lot of time to think is that @nature and its ilk have promoted a culture where the primary goal of science is to produce bloated Nature papers that require lots of time and money, but little thought, to produce.
