A bit of 21stC waste disposal going on today, is this the best we can do? New Forest NPA Environment Agency

Saw a Coal Tit chasing a fluttering Red Admiral, almost caught it but the RA closed its wings and spiralled to the ground like a leaf. Tit landed by it but could not find it so flew off. An excellent predator avoidance strategy and not one I had seen before. Butterfly Conservation 🦋

Hey Southern Water where is the update promised on your website by 3:00pm? It is not helpful to promise what you can't deliver.

So essentially the Southern Water issue at Testwood is a failure to invest in infrastructure leading to the system falling over. The company chose to pay out to investors rather than invest effectively, customers will now pick up the tab and suffer loss of service.

The Wildlife Trusts Craig Bennett BBC Countryfile Are you blooming serious? A strip of non-native Phacelia? How unimaginative & uninformed can you get? Who's peddling this crap? Limited value for pollinators. Zilch value for wildflowers & herbivorous insects. Here's what a wildlife-friendly arable margin should look like.

I come across more and more "dens" in the Forest these days but this one near Penerley Lodge was huge and had a fire site within it. new forest ranger New Forest NPA

I am assuming this is an unusually dark specimen of Ectophasia crassipennis, there were lots of typically coloured ones about too. In S. Hants this afternoon. Dipterists Forum

What appears to be Thecophora cinerascens at #LepeCP, Hants this morning, a site with soft cliff habitat and suitable hosts. Opinions welcome. Dipterists Forum Steven Falk

What chance that this is Andrena rosae? I have never seen it but seems promising and habitat would appear suitable too. #bees Steven Falk

Small Whites like this one seem to be trying to complicated things! Still a Small by my reading of things but with a lot more black along the outer wing than is typical. Butterfly Conservation 🦋
