The question isn’t why there are over 40 million Americans on SNAP. The question is why so many people who are gainfully employed make so little that they qualify for it.

"Why are there so many people in SNAP?! You all need to get to work!" Excluding children and elderly individuals, the reason why so many people are on SNAP is because this country allows businesses to pay people unlivable wages, which effectively makes SNAP a corporate subsidy.

Notice how it’s somehow the government’s job to legislate a few Bible verses on human sexuality over our entire country, but it’s suddenly “not the government’s job” when it comes to the +2,500 Bible verses calling for a generous use of wealth that prioritizes the poor.

If you think the low income people and the disabled on SNAP are ripping you off, but you're cool with billionaires getting obscene tax cuts and paying lower taxes than you, congratulations, you've been played. Raise a toast to the next super yacht you see. You helped buy it.

If you’re angrier about children, elderly people, disabled Americans, and the working poor getting $180/month in food stamps than you are about billionaires like Elon Musk getting $8 MILLION A DAY in gov subsidies, congrats on being a sucker. Billionaires are the welfare queens.

Walmart keeps wages low so workers qualify for SNAP & Medicaid, then takes tax credits for it. Those same workers spend their checks back at Walmart, feeding the same machine that underpays them. That’s not a business model, it’s a loop of exploitation.

Imagine hating poor people so much that not only do you cancel their food assistance, but you also go after the grocery stores that are trying to help them in a time of dire need.

If this is true God help us all.

My expert political opinion is that killing the job market, raising grocery prices, kicking people off their health care, stealing taxpayer money, and trying to starve 40 million Americans is pretty damn unpopular.
