The WVU basketball program has announced the hiring of Alex Mergner as Director of Men’s Basketball Operations. Mergner has spent the last four seasons in the program, including this past season as head manager. He spent the previous three seasons as a student manager.

WVU MBB HC Ross Hodge on Mergner: "We are excited to have Alex remain with our men’s basketball program. He has been with men’s basketball for the last four years and will continue to do a variety of roles that will help with the success of Mountaineer Basketball."

Translation: football and MBB will get significantly more and MBB will get more than the women even if they perform better on the court. It has to be this way but this is the case. And honestly, it needs to be like this based on cost of doing business and competing.

"I heard there’s a city ordinance against it, but if we win a big game this year, my ass is burning a couch. I’m going to pay the fine ahead of time or something. I don’t care." - WVU HC Rich Rodriguez

“Think you are going to see him starting in St. Louis pretty soon,” - National League manager and Baseball Hall of Famer Chipper Jones

WVU HC Rich Rodriguez tells his team that they need to think of the football as the program and that they're carrying the whole program, not just a football. "Would you just leave the program laying around? Would you want someone else to get their hands on the program?"

Something that immediately caught my eye while watching WVU practice today is Jaylen Henderson looks more comfortable and he also looks slimmer. I don't know if he has cut weight or not, but he looks in better shape than in the spring to the eye.
