I was delighted to see my old friend Alan Walker when he visited British Library to do some research for the second edition of his Chopin biography. I also interviewed him on his extraordinary 94 years for the collections (C1742).

Violinist Maurice Rubinstein won the 1906 Klindworth-Scharwenka competition and made this disc in Berlin, apparently his only recording. Delighted to acquire this rare disc for the British Library Sound Archive.

Delighted to acquire this rare disc by Busoni pupil Edward Weiss (1892-1984). Around 50 years later he participated in a Busoni Symposium at the National Sound Archive, the forerunner of the British Library Sound Archive.
