We designed this home with timeless brick, steep gables, and a warm, welcoming entry. This home blends classic architecture with modern comfort, creating a space that feels both elegant and inviting.

Since opening BKV Design, we’ve had the privilege of creating many unique structures — including these two hobbit homes. One of them is designed to use shipping containers as the primary structural framework.

For this home, our team focused on simplifying the forms, improving the proportions, and creating a stronger connection between the interior and outdoor spaces. Small adjustments to massing, window alignment, and material continuity made the whole property feel more cohesive.

With remodels, the first step for us is always clarity: what parts of the home are working, and what needs to be reorganized so the whole thing feels more intentional.

This kitchen came out of a remodel, not a blank slate which changes everything. We weren’t just designing something new. We were solving real constraints: existing structure, circulation, daylight, and how the house already functioned. That’s what led to a dual-kitchen strategy.
