Synchrotron Light Finland 2023 has started! Paavo Penttilä opening the workshop. Thanks to organisers Biobased Materials Structure group!

Our multidisciplinary team from Aalto University/VTT/Fortum Suomi did synchrotron-SAXS experiments on lignin at MAX IV Laboratory. We go home with immemorable new experiences and plenty of interesting data to analyze. Thanks to the MAX IV/CoSAXS staff for making it reality!

Our SmartRecovery Business Finland team members Patrik and Janita got the opportunity to use small-angle light scattering (#SALS) for studying #lignin particles in Paderborn Universität Paderborn. 🟤🌍 Many thanks to the host laboratory of Prof. Klaus Huber for the excellent collaboration!

PhD position in my group Biobased Materials Structure group Aalto University in “Small-angle scattering analysis of cellulose fibers and their moisture interactions”. Check also the other positions and apply here: aalto.fi/en/open-positi…

Thrilled to be part of“Machine Learning Conference for X-Ray and Neutron-Based Experiments” in Garching! Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) thanks for enabling this deep dive into the fascinating world of ML applied to X-ray and neutron experiments! ⚙️🧠✨

When collecting X-ray and #neutron scattering data of biological samples, the vast amount of data and overlap of features make interpretation challenging. Paavo Penttilä from Aalto University addresses this with #MachineLearning tools, rendering the analysis more efficient. 👨💻🧠

Our PhD student Enri presented her innovative ways to analyse X-ray scattering data from wood and plant structures using machine learning in the annual seminar of the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Aalto University. 🌲🌿☢️🖥️#NNxWOOD

Our Master's student Janita presented today her thesis on characterization of #lignin microparticles with static light #scattering Aalto University. We are proud of her work, and thank the collaborators at VTT and Universität Paderborn, and SmartRecovery/Business Finland for funding! 🌞

First doctoral graduate from our group, congratulations Aleksi Zitting! 🎉

Just came back from a SAXS tensor tomography experiment to image the local structure and orientation of cellulose fibrils in wood cell walls. Thank you to the hardworking team Afrina, Chihiro, Enri, Paavo, Patrik, Linnea/PSI, Mira/ForMAX, and to MAX IV Laboratory for the beamtime!
