Joel Klatt’s Top 25 has 7 Big Ten teams 9 SEC teams, 2 ACC, 6 Big 12 teams but first not till #15, and then independent Note Dame. Looks a lot like a 4,4,2,2,1 and 3 playoff model.

This week on my Thursday night "Big Jeff's Football Insights" podcast on The Big Ten Huddle 🎙️ with JR Jon “JR” Rhoades I provide my Big Ten and Overall record predictions ("Part 1") for the Top 9 teams in the Big Ten including highlighting key data and info supporting my predictions.

I align pretty well with these predictions. A lot of the records will be driven by how tough the schedules are which vary a great deal.

Big Ten fans. If you wanna listen to a guy who is very objective and thorough in his analysis of the various Big Ten teams, pay attention to former Michigan TE Jake Butt Jake Butt . He knows the conference well, is excellent at what he does and doesn’t bring in his loyalties for

Many say we should eliminate Preseason Polls. The polls are not the problem, it's how the voters execute the polls. I am mostly talking the AP poll here. The first one is a projection with many unknowns. That's fine - it gets people excited and generates discussion and people

Indiana opens the season #20 in the pre-season AP poll. As a 1990 IU grad and Big Ten fan I love it. With a handful of key All Big Ten like performers back, is IU actually under-rated? Perhaps. But I get tired of all the whining and complaining from IU fans. Yes, many people

This is why this 24/28 team playoff is such a terrible idea. Rewarding mediocrity. Yes more games will mean more to some fan bases later in the season but a team that’s barely over .500 has no chance ever to come close to winning a national championship. In football depth of

In this prediction from Klatt the 12 team playoff field is composed of 4 Big Ten, 4 SEC, 1 ACC, 1 Big 12, 1 group of 5 and Independent Notre Dame for a “4-4-1-1-1-1” model.

The SEC announcing moving to a 9-game conference schedule in 2026 plus playing another "quality" Power 4 opponent is GREAT for college football. It should retain and produce better matchups. BUT, now the Big Ten needs to still step up. We have too many teams with cupcake

I didn't check (audit) this math, but keep this in mind to see the impact of a 9 game conference schedule vs 8 games. Yes, the SEC plays more P4 teams out of conference in 2025 but they only have 8 conference games vs the Big Ten's 9 and you can see the result from it.

Agree with this take from my man JR. Besides, if you have power why give it up? The SEC and Big 10 have the power in college football right now and won't give that up so why would Notre Dame give up theirs by joining a conference?

This is a good opening game of Iowa State versus Kansas State. Two tough teams with good defenses, but it’s a great example of how your ceiling is limited if you don’t have difference making wide receivers who can separate and stretch defenses. #collegefootballireland

Iowa State versus Kansas State. This fourth quarter is a great example of what happens as a really good defense who in the first half is fresh and mentally sharp starts to get tired and the offenses start to exert their will. Takes a lot more energy to play defense than offense.

What are these announcers talking about at the end of this game? No clue on clock management and you’re a professional announcer? Do your background homework and learn basic math and clock management Good lord. Only chance for K State to come back as if that guy would’ve scored

Some people give Connelly a lot of flack. I appreciate him because he’s trying to use statistical methods to evaluate teams and continues to tweak his model. Nothing will ever be perfect.
