📞: The US FCC has voted to cut the cost of phone calls from prison by more than half. The new caps range from USD $0.06 - $0.12 (AUD $0.09 - $0.18) per minute. The current cost of a phone call from prison in Victoria is AUD $0.57/min - more than six times the new US cap.

The FCC said that "exorbitant phone call rates have burdened incarcerated people and their families for decades" and had "detrimental effects on recidivism rates nationwide." Read more: prisonpolicy.org/blog/2024/07/1…
