Our boys Post 16 football team won convincingly on Wednesday afternoon in the County Cup. Harvey led the way with a hatrick, Jake and Jack scored two apiece with George and Alex also getting on the scoresheet.

Our 10 sports leaders had a brilliant morning supporting this great event today! It was so good to see so many young girls taking their first steps in football. 👏🏻 Thank you to Hinckley & Bosworth SSPAN for inviting us along.

Our U16 boys rugby team lost at home to Welland Park in the County Plate semi-final this afternoon in an exciting game of rugby. All the boys were fantastic, but ended up on the wrong side of a 29-24 scoreline. Tries from Zach, Roan, Nevan and Jayden, with 2 conversions from Zach

On Wednesday we took Year 7 and Year 9 rugby 7’s teams to Hinckley RFC for the Hinckley & Bosworth SSPAN tournament. The Yr7’s won two and lost one, while the 9’s drew one and lost one. Great to see them playing in the sunshine.

A great 4-1 win this evening for our Year 9 boys football team in the County Cup semi-final. The final is this Thursday at Leicester City’s training ground at Seagrave.

Congratulations must go to our Year 9 boys football team who were crowned County Champions at Seagrave this evening. A 4-2 victory over Uppingham, with goals from Vinny, Xavier, Jamie and Tom.

The U18 boys football team lost a close semi-final tie away at Brooke House College, 1-0. A great effort in very hot conditions. Unfortunately, Will Watts’ late equaliser was ruled out for offside.

Cricket season is up and running with training and matches underway. We progressed into the next round of the county cup with a win at Crown Hills this afternoon. We chased down 103 for the loss of just two wickets. Noah and Sam led our chase with an opening stand of 78. 🏏💥

Our KS3 cricketers’ run in the County Cup came to an end today as we were comprehensively beaten by a strong Kibworth side. A good experience for the boys and lots of positives to take even in defeat.

Our Y8 cricket team are bringing home silverware this afternoon after winning 4/4 matches in the Hinckley & Bosworth SSPAN tournament at Dixie Grammar. Some powerful batting performances and accurate bowling across the team saw us home in four successful run chases. Well done boys! 🏏 💥

ANNUAL SPORTS PRESENTATION EVENING Last night we welcomed students and their families to our annual Sports Presentation Evening. It was great to see so many of our students in attendance supported by family members and friends. #BGLC_PE

Sports Day 2025 was a huge success, well done to all students, you were amazing and the day was a huge success. Final positions were: 1st- Voyager 2nd - Pioneer 3rd - Endeavour 4th - Discovery

A great, albeit boiling hot, Sports Day yesterday to bring the academic year to a close. All the students were brilliant (as were the staff). Isla and George justifying why they won Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year awards at presentation evening #recordbreakers

Over a week ago now - but another well attended Sports Presentation Evening to celebrate the sporting success of our students. Great to have Tom McGlinchey back in school to hand out the awards.

We’ve had a busy start to the academic year in PE with multiple netball and football fixtures. It’s been great to see our teams getting involved in the TMET Sport competitions, now we are put if the trust, alongside local and national competitions.

Our KS4 teams have faced both Bosworth and South Charnwood already, winning 1 of the 4 netball and 3 of the 4 football fixtures. Our Year 10 team now go through to a Hinckley and Bosworth final.

In the ESFA 1st round, our Yr7 boys beat Loughborough Grammar 7-0, Yr9 boys lost a tight affair 3-2 to South Wigston, Yr10 boys won 7-4 away from home and the Post 16 boys won away at Repton 2-0. Plenty more fixtures to come and opportunities for our students.
