Coaches love looking at hand path, but what moves the hands during the swing? In this video, the torso position is fixed. This allows us to see the hand movement in relation to the torso, essentially showing us what the arms are doing. The answer? Not a whole lot.

Excited to share that I will be joining the Toronto Blue Jays as a biomechanist. My time at Driveline has been an unbelievable experience. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with some of the hardest working and brightest minds in baseball. Excited for this new challenge!

Joey brings up a good point here. Bat speed alone will not make you a great hitter, and how you train bat speed matters a lot. I know. I know. Try to contain your astonishment. However, there are a few things I would like to point out 👇

If a hitter is "rolling over" to the pull side, the answer is rarely, if ever, telling them to stop pulling the ball. The problem isn't that they are pulling the ball; the problem is that they are bad at it. What causes rollovers? 👇

In most pitching research, there’s an underlying belief that “better” mechanics lead to less stress. Philosophically, I think this idea is internally consistent. Unfortunately, I don't think it applies in most player development situations. It's almost always the opposite.
