Exactly this. Wilderness play in 0E was domain play. One went into "the wilderness" to clear a territory and establish a domain after having risen through dungeon exploration to name level. Outside that context it's *super weird* to code all wilderness as high-level.

I'm listening to When We Were Wizards abt the history of TSR. I didn't know that Zeb Cook and Lawrence Schick wrote a draft of Star Frontiers that was butchered by management. I bet their version was WAY more interesting than what got published. Do we know anything about it?

Nick K explained callers to me in a way that made sense. Each exploration or combat turn players discuss what they're going to do amongst themselves. The caller summarizes the plan to the GM. It's basically a proceduralized planning process. Cool!

I'm low-key obsessed the old french RPG, RΓͺve de Dragon, Dragon's Dream. A truly bizarre game from 1985! Right now there is crowdfunding on for Miroirs de Terra MΓ©dians, Mirrors of the Middle Lands, a reboot of classic modules by the creator Denis Garfaud. gameontabletop.com/cf3971/les-mir…

In honor of Halloween, I'm going to be running Mothership for the first time, using Bones and Videotape from Hull Breach, along with some supplementary material from Breach of Contract. Excited!

Mothership: the only ttrpg where I can tempt my wife, a union organizer who has never played rpgs, by showing her the union card she'll get if she chooses to play as a teamster.

This year, I agonizingly extracted myself from several tumultuous TTRPG business partnerships. In this goliath blog post, I'm sharing everything I learned from those trials: evaluating contracts, spotting red flags, and what to do when things go south. uncannyspheres.blogspot.com/2024/10/a-nest…

My post, Good Lore/Bad Lore made it to the finalists in the Bloggies but is up against an amazing post by Josh McCrowell on social encounters. If the spirit moves you vote! I think there are a few hours before it is determined whether I will advance ot the final four!
