Civil punishment according to God’s law is God’s vengeance. It belongs to God and is delegated to man. Part of the good news (gospel) is that Jesus is establishing that reign over all earthly kings thru His people discipling the nations (Isaiah 42:1-4, Psalm 149:6-9).

The state ruling in its own name is a “treading under foot” which Jesus spoke about in the Sermon on the Mount. It occurs when His people lose their saltiness. 500 years ago, Europe was far more advanced. All its kings were Christian kings. We are brainwashed and backslidden.
