Despite our claimed superiority in Toronto I go home from Chicago amazed at what I saw. Intricate but agile transit, all sorts of housing types, and beautiful public/private spaces. Holding hope we can do so much better once we’ve fixed our funding hump.

I would not be surprised if Halifax builds more 5-to-10 unit buildings than Toronto does. Why? Because Toronto’s affluent political class and homeowning boomers prefer social rot over reasonable changes.

The MTSA policies that Mayor Olivia Chow 🇨🇦 is trying to sell Gregor Robertson arent even in full effect. City council still has to pass the zoning changes for transit station areas. You know what would be really helpful with this, keeping the city accountable like with 6plexes.
