Just read an interesting journal article evaluating medical students who gained work experience as HCAs. Working as & with HCAs helped students build confidence, empathy & compassion due to nature of HCA work, but also an awareness of how complex HCA work actually is....

...quote from the article about how students built: “an appreciation of the range of roles conducted in a busy environment yet maintaining a person-centred approach as they provide high quality and safe care”

I wonder how often the importance & complexity of support work is acknowledged including their contribution to safe care. (Almost all the med students on the pilot felt all trainees should spend time as a HCA)
