Bufumbira was part of Rwanda until the boundary adjustments of 1910. The actual inhabitants of Bufumbira, in descending order of numerical superiority, are the Bahuutu, the Batutsi and the Batwa. Essentially, they are Banyarwanda and they speak Kinyarwanda.
