With today's move, S&P is up ~7.5% year to date and ~13% over the last 12 months (Nasdaq 4.5% and 13%, respectively). The stock market is a long-term investment vehicle with wild short-term fluctuations. This is expected behavior.

This seems to be 2 separate issues: 1. What should we require of companies to sell ownership stakes to the general public, and 2. What's the best technology to support it? I believe the public markets are over regulated, which prevents the public from owning certain companies.
