Just out in @JORSpine: the impact of sex and fat infiltration on the mechanical properties of the multifidus muscle, revealing a significant reduction in elastic modulus. 📚🔬 #SpineResearch #MuscleHealth #Paraspinal ORS Spine Section 🔗 Read more: doi.org/10.1002/jsp2.1…
📢 Just released in @JORSpine! Study on the #biomechanics behind adult spinal deformity #ASD surgeries, exploring the posterior ligamentous complex #PLC to understand prox junct kyphosis #PJK and junctional failure. #spine Find all here: doi.org/10.1002/jsp2.1… ORS Spine Section
The health and mechanics of the posterior ligamentous complex can predict proximal junctional kyphosis after spinal fusion in adult spinal deformity. Our pub in Journal of Orthopaedic Research - Spine® found that stiffer, longer, and thinner ligaments contribute to risk of failure. doi.org/10.1002/jsp2.1…
Excited to have received the John H. Moe Basic Science Award for our work on soft tissue insufficiency in adult spinal deformity. Thank you Scoliosis Research Society for the honor! #SRSAM23
New work out by Bahar Shahidi in @JORSpine 🏋️♂️Paraspinal muscle responses in lumbar #spine pathology revealing complex expression patterns post resistance exercise i.e. inflammation ⬆️, metabolism ⬆️, and fibrotic resp. ⬆️ >>> doi.org/10.1002/jsp2.1… ORS Spine Section
Excited that this paper finally came out in Journal of Orthopaedic Research - Spine®! It took several years and a lot of amazing collaborators! Paraspinal muscle biopsies in those with lumbar pathology after acute exercise didn’t show the expected muscle growth response. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38222805/
At #ORS2024 and trying to decide what sessions to attend tomorrow? Check out the Advanced Imaging: Structure and Function of Soft Tissues session, featuring Deva Chan (she/her) talking about 'Multi-contrast MRI: Towards a Richer Picture of Soft Tissue Mechanics' (2/5, 8am Rm 201) #ORSSMC
Out now in Science Advances: two common and "interchangeable" stem cell therapies actually contain completely different cell types. 💉 Read more at #UCSD_HSblog go.ucsd.edu/4cT5nty UC San Diego School of Medicine Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance Image credit: Robert Hunt/Wikimedia Commons
Pleased to have been a part of this talented team looking at risk factors for implant related complications after magnetically controlled growing rod use in early onset scoliosis! Check out our recent podcast with Scoliosis Research Society youtu.be/7DMgp8PiECs?si…
