What Senator Natasha is experiencing after speaking out about harassment is a stark reflection of the decay in Nigerian society and a testament to how victims are treated and vilified when they speak up. The senate doesn’t even have the power to suspend a senator.

The situation with Senator Natasha Akpoti sets a dangerous precedents for women in Nigeria and especially women in politics. There are only just 4 women in senate and one of them has been treated with disdain and disrespect for calling out her abusers, we must not stand for it.

Senator Natasha has resubmitted her sexual harassment petition against Akpabio btw. If she’s not deterred we shouldn’t be either!

The Senator who should have been suspended is Godswill Akpabio, pending an independent investigation. At the very least, he should have recused himself. Akpabio presiding over a petition in which he is the accused makes a mockery of the integrity of the Nigerian Senate

The recommendation to withdraw Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s security detail, alongside the illegal 6 month suspension, was a deliberate and calculated act of malice. It was intended to intimidate her. To leave her feeling vulnerable and exposed.

When you start having to make big purchases, remember one cardinal rule and you’ll be fine. Value isn’t getting a “fair” thing for a fantastic price. Value is getting a fantastic thing at a fair price.
