The Sun is a star, but we didn’t know that until just over 100 years ago! Why? Thanks to spectroscopy! By breaking up light into a rainbow and comparing the “barcodes” of sunlight and starlight, scientists realised: they’re made of the same stuff. So the Sun is a star!
