Here's an improved stack of my comet, 414P/STEREO. 25x6 second exposures were aligned on the comet based on astrometry of each image and custom Python software. The comet was photographed on Sunday morning using my C11 and Canon 90D SLR. The comet's green color can even be seen!

The comet I discovered in 2016 has been listed by viral sensationalist videos claiming an "unprecedented" swarm of comets is sweeping through the inner solar system and might even be dangerous. In this video I set the record straight: youtu.be/XpFsASY6IOE

Shot some more film last night with manual guiding using an off-axis guider and illuminated reticle. Ran into some technical issues, but I think I solved them by the time I shot the last 30 minute long exposure. Quite a challenge, but I'll be sending off the roll for development.

There's something magical about manually guiding an hour long exposure on film and then seeing light captured in the resulting negative. Very proud of this one and very happy at how well the thrift store off axis guider worked.

Posts like these do not actually show 3I. These are ~30s untracked exposures with tons of hot pixels in the Mastcam-Z images. You have to process them correctly. I was able to calibrate and astrometrically solve for stacking, I'll be on Reds Rhetoric's channel tonight to discuss.

I'm going to have a stream on my channel tonight discussing this. Yes, the shape is due to motion blur during a long exposure, but this is not even an image of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS. I'm aiming to start around 9:30 pm: youtube.com/live/QKls2xPxF…

News sites like Futurism and Space dot com are now suggesting the Phobos image "could" be 3I. No, that's just Phobos in a multi frame mosaic by the navcams, the surrounding stars confirm it. bsky.app/profile/stim3o… It takes careful processing to see 3I even in Mastcam-Z.
