@asdmusings

Rants, thoughts and ravings of an ASD mum. Might contain awful humour and terrible opinions, neither of which I apologise for.

Finding childcare - and the other support their children need - is even harder for mothers of disabled children. Our #FailedandForgotten report in March found that three quarters of parents of disabled children had had to give up work or whole careers because of lack of support.

Autistic people end up in mental health hospitals because they don't get the social care they need & end up in crisis, so: - they still don't get the care they need - they take up a bed - it costs more than the social care they needed in the 1st place. buff.ly/3T9tSw5

The social care sector has 165,000 vacancies. Many people are stuck in hospitals unable to return home as there are no carers. So the genius plan from the Conservatives is to stop care workers moving here with their families. This is deliberate.

It's appalling that waiting lists for an autism assessment in England have risen by 50% in just one year. The number of people potentially struggling without the right help and support in their daily lives could now fill Twickenham Stadium twice – nearly 160,000 people. (1/4)

The stress on parents is overwhelming. The impact on children is destructive. There has to be a better, kinder, fairer way of giving children the support they need. #EducationForAll
