The demonstration is located at the Aquaculture Research and Development Centre (Aquaculture Research & Development Centre Kajjansi), also known as the China-Uganda Friendship Agriculture Technology Demonstration Center, which was established in Kajjansi in 2014. #SSCUganda
Aquaculture Research & Development Centre Kajjansi Rice-fish culture involves the growing of rice at the same time and in the same place with fish. Rice-fish culture helps farmers who grow rice to earn from 2 enterprises and to add more protein to their diets. #SSCUganda
The aquaponics system at NARO_NaFIRRI Aquaculture Research & Development Centre Kajjansi is under the #PrAEctiCe project. The system uses fish and feed as nutrient sources for plant growth and is good for urban and water-stressed areas. #aquaponics #fishing #agroecology #urban

On the 13th of Nov 2025, NARO_NaFIRRI hosted a team from the African Platform for Regional Institutions in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Systems (APRIFAAS). The purpose of their visit was to familiarize themselves with research and technological advancement in Aquaculture.
