Sports Roles: Coach-you coach the team Player-you play the game Referee-you officiate the game Spectator-you watch the game & cheer for your team Some parents need to take a step back; your kids won’t play forever. Just sit back, be proud, enjoy these moments & know your role!

Great players are learning every day. They don’t let any opportunity for new knowledge go by. During every workout, drill, film session or discussion, they find & process new information. Eventually, it comes back to give them that edge that others never get. Knowledge is power!

Coaches want to see you take a leadership role. Upperclassmen should be teaching younger players to make good decisions on & off the court. Set an example. Be someone others look up to for doing the right things. Leaders are always proud to have others follow in their footsteps.

Coaches should NEVER have to plead with a player to play hard on either side of the floor. If you find yourself having to coach effort, examine the relationship with the player. Relationships based on trust where kids WANT to play hard for you & the team are key for team success!
