It's back! 📸🌅 Scrippshenge, an event that happens twice a year when the sunset aligns under #ScrippsPier, returned last night and UC San Diego photographer @ErikJep was there to capture the magic.

Our team (fraley.ethz.ch) in D-CHAB and IPW ETH Zurich are embarking on some exciting projects with the opening of our lab this year! Consider attending my inaugural lecture this Sept to hear more about how we integrate #naturalproducts and #biocatalysis into #MedChem

Out now in ACS Catalysis, we develop a chimeric fusion N-glycosyltransferase for targeted and selective peptide modification, especially in vivo. We use it to make a new glycocin derivative (RiPP NP). Congrats to Smith Ayoola Babalola for leading this work!🎉 pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

🌊🧬BIG NEWS: Thanks to a four-year, $10 million grant funded by the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, a new center will be established at Scripps Oceanography to understand how climate change may impact the nervous systems and behavior of marine animals. 🧵⬇️ Allen Institute

Never underestimate a diiron enzyme. Congrats Sanjoy Adak for bringing the nitrile synthase AetD to life with @Drennan_lab, Maria-Eirini Pandelia, and Ken Houk labs. Published today Nature Chemistry nature.com/articles/s4155…

New pub today in PNASNews that extends our NOAA Coastal Ocean Science ECOHAB work at Scripps Institution of Oceanography on domoic acid biosynthesis with @Andreweallen to support toxin forecasting during an oceanic diatom bloom pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…

Tired of low heterologous biosynthesis yields? Try GrowBio to rapidly make g/l bioproduction. Just give synthetic cells a reason to make your favorite compound like the octopus pigment xanthommatin. Led by Leah Bushin and out at biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Just out from the Booker Lab! Squire J. Booker Hayley Knox, PhD #ACSBioMedChemAu Structural Evidence for DUF512 as a Radical S-Adenosylmethionine Cobalamin-Binding Domain | ACS Bio & Med Chem Au pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

When the standard approaches didn't work, Chad came up with a new one to solve a synthetic challenge that Ye Wang was having. Mix in Azam Hussain and the following J. Am. Chem. Soc. paper was the result. Narayan Lab @ UMich Michigan Chemistry UMLifeSciences #biocatalysis

Our latest perspective article by Kridsadakorn Nook Prakinee Suppalak Phaisan Sirus Kongjaroon on how to use Ancestral Sequence Reconstruction for enzyme engineering recently published in JACS Au. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…

Very excited to share our latest work in solving flavin mechanisms in a single-component halogenase. Great team work by Aisaraphon Phintha April Lukowski. Unlocking the catalytic precision of ligand-controlled enzymatic halogenation | PNAS pnas.org/doi/epub/10.10…
