Every once in a while you see a paper and you _don't even know what to think_ honestly. I mean wow. Is it an artefact or a major mechanism of inheritance would be one question I'd definitely like to know. P.S. I think height heritability is considered to be fully explained now.

Congrats to my friend and colleague Guosong Hong for his stunning and original discovery, published today in Science, on clearing tissues *in living animals* with a common food dye! The dye is tartrazine, used in Doritos! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Our team has been working on a pipeline to reliably detect bacterial reads in human RNA-seq data - incl. various single cell platforms and Visium. I will be presenting our way of doing this type of analysis at the Festival of Genomics (Jan 29-30th, 2025) in London. Please join!

Over the summer, I went to the very North of the Isle of Lewis on a field trip to map the geology there with a close friend of mine. The google street view car went past. We had a geological hammer. The following masterpiece, now on google street view, was the result

Out today in Nature: "The Human Cell Atlas"! In my commentary, I compare the cell atlas to early naturalists exploring South America. Researchers mining this cell atlas can now make big discoveries, just as the next naturalists then discovered evolution. nature.com/articles/d4158…

I am beyond excited to see our MEGA gut paper published in nature! 🌟 Over 5 years, 20+ datasets profiled cells of the human gut. We created a mega dataset spanning health & disease (~1.6M cells) as a reference to study inflammation. 🧡Follow along for your daily gut wisdom.
