One perk of attending COP is getting to hear from high-level experts on their areas of knowledge. Today I heard from Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization as the panel discussed health adaptation and resilience. #Cop28

12 hours, 6+ miles, and 3 coffees later, our COP day has ended. We typically find each other throughout the day for lunch, coffee, or just a morale boost. COP28 is an amazing learning experience and a great place to encourage our peers!

Today at #COP28, the theme is ‘Finance / Trade / Gender Equality / Accountability.’ According to the COP28 presidency (COP28 UAE) the goal for this themed day is to create a tangible plan on action that can be taken on climate finance to close the climate finance gap.

“Women and Children are more likely to be affected by climactic events”(Hillary Clinton) By 2030, the renewable energy sector will triple. Women are more likely to make climate conscious decisions yet are often ignored despite facing the frontlines of these issues. #COP28

WISE (Women in the Sustainable Economy), announced by the Biden-Harris administration, is a public-private partnership seeking to increase women’s economic participation surrounding climate resilience. At #COP28 , the total worth of this fund surpasses $1.4 Billion.

To end the day today, the App State delegation spent some time watching the light show at #ExpoCity. We often walk up to ten miles a day here at #COP28 so having some downtime is very helpful. Last night, the Global Methane Pledge hosted the Methane Ministerial, where actions to meet the goal of cutting methane emissions at least 30% by 2030 relative to 2020 levels were announced at both national and corporate levels. #COP28 Appalachian State
