The afternoon started out with thunderstorms in the mountains west of the Reserve. A few sprinkles even reached the desert floor. The storms have past, and now smoke from the nearby GroveFire is drifting east into Borrego (Photos: Sicco Rood).

Thunderstorms west of Borrego Springs bring rain, hail, & wind to the local mountains. While no rain so far down at the desert floor, the temperature dropped from 104F earlier this afternoon to 91F at this time. We'll take the "cool" and overcast 91F gladly! (Photo: Sicco Rood).
