Mike Levy on medical events attended by EMS during law enforcement incidents at #NAEMSP2024 Must be aware of biases during hot scenes. What is a clearance? After police UoF, individuals should be considered patients.

Mike Levy on medical events attended by EMS during law enforcement incidents at #NAEMSP2024 Bottom Line - focus on the patient. Show compassion. Have a pre plan about how to respond and interact with LE.

A lot of great posters at #NAEMSP2024 but this one resonated. Proof of the new mantra -resuscitate before you intubate. Patients in hemorrhagic shock given blood + TXA + Ca before ETI don’t then need ETI (1.6% ETI vs 100%). And for those who just get ETI, nearly 50% die.

.Elan Guterman is presenting on status epilepticus and gaps with identification and treatment. Two important historical papers showing the type and route of medicine to give for higher efficacy, as well as demonstrating that ~95% of pts get underdosed. #NAEMSP2024

Drs Silbergleit, Shah, and Guterman on EMS treatment of status epilepticus at #NAEMSP2024 Prioritize high quality care in the field. Right dose via right route at right time. 1/3 kids arrive in ED still seizing. Why is this? What makes this better?

In 2019 I was interviewed for residency at Mayo by such an inspiring woman in medicine that encompassed what I wanted to be as a physician and made me want to be part of the Mayo Clinic. Five years later I am still inspired by RahmaWarsame MD and her amazing talk at #MayoGRIT
