The immature Glaucous Gull reappeared in Aberdeen Harbour this evening. It remains in charge.

Despite the summery warmth, the Iceland Gull continues at Girdle Ness. Today it pattered through the rising tide below the foghorn.

We usually get one or two pairs of Yellowhammers breeding around Girdle Ness but they've been quiet this year. I was pleasantly surprised then to see a pair at the feeding station in St Fittick's this morning, as well as another by the lighthouse.

This was one of five Arctic Skuas that headed north into a strong headwind off Girdle Ness today. All were dark phase birds like this one.

A Lesser Black-backed Gull from Aberdeen Harbour earlier this week. Numbers are declining locally, particularly since a harbourside warehouse that held the main colony was re-roofed. Just a handful can be found these days. #SuperSeabirdSunday

Really enjoyed seeing 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 at St Luke's, Glasgow this evening. Euphoric music.

Sand Martins seem to be doing well at Girdle Ness this year. This one was crouching down on top of the concrete shelter by the Battery today.

A few migrant #butterflies appeared at Girdle Ness today, including this Painted Lady. They weren't the only things moving. A few minutes after I took this picture two Minke Whales were breaking the surface a couple of miles out.

One of two Black Guillemots off Girdle Ness today. It's a strange time here for seabirds, with lingering Arctic Skuas that should be breeding further north and hundreds of loafing Kittiwakes looking as if they've given up already. Like August in June.

This Iceland Gull has been at Girdle Ness for two months now and is the first one to summer here that I can recall. It often seems to keep to itself. The throng of other gulls feeding offshore were interrupted by a Minke Whale rising through the waves.
