We found that alterations in R2t* was correlated with disability and psychometric performance. Importantly, the rate of change of R2t* was different between the progressive patients with ongoing disability accumulation vs those who were stable.

This is a small study but motivates the use of this technique, and techniques like it, for the study of ongoing progressive symptom accumulation in progressive MS. The hope is that with a better biomarker we can better assess potential therapies.
